Shoulder pain

Shoulder pain is a common presenting problem at our Kensington osteopathy practise. Clients frequently report developing shoulder pain at work (sedentary/office desk work or physical work) or during training and competition. We have a large number of clients who participate in sports such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA/UFC (mixed martial arts), Kickboxing, Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Judo, Powerlifting, and strength training (gym), as well as running, swimming, cycling, tennis, AFL, Rugby, walking, and so on.

Shoulder impingement syndrome, subacromial bursitis, rotator cuff or biceps tendinopathy/ tendonitis, muscle strains in the biceps or rotator cuff, adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder), and shoulder instability (whether traumatic or repetitive) are some of the more common shoulder complaints seen in the clinic.

When it comes to injuries and management, the shoulder might be one of the most difficult regions of the body. It is frequently referred to as the most unstable and mobile. The humerus, scapular, clavicle, and their attachments to the thoracic spine/ribs make up the shoulder girdle. The Glenohumeral (GH) joint is a ball-and-socket joint that provides the most mobility. Because the clavicle connects the shoulder to the rest of the skeleton, there are several joints and soft tissues that can become involved in a shoulder injury.
