Coordination in Striking

Boxing, kickboxing, or any form of striking requires coordination of the whole body. All of the joints, muscles, tendons etc.

Often when one part of the body is hurting - like the elbows and shoulders from punching or the hips and knees from kicking - somewhere else in the body isn’t working as well as it could. Because it’s co-ordination of all of the joints, muscles, tendons etc, it’s a team effort which means that we have to assess the whole team

If you have a sore knee and we only look at what’s happening at your knee, we’ll miss the bigger picture - and you won’t get better quickly.

I’ve had countless patients who have a sore knee on the stance leg when kicking. It’s almost never the knee’s fault - and 80% it’s the foot or hip on the same side that causes the issue.

Likewise, the issue can also be because the team doesn't know how to work together properly. If you don’t feel confident in your technique, then a coach/trainer can help you to figure out how and what to do.
