Knee pain
Knee pain is one of the most common lower limb complaints that sees clients presenting to see an osteopath at Mixed Osteo. We see a range of both acute and chronic knee pain complaints at the clinic and often the acute knee pain complaint occurs following trauma or excessive loading during sports or competition. The chronic knee complaint usually develops more slowly overtime and individuals have probably not listened to their bodies warning signs that have been going off whilst undertaking the activity that is contributing to its onset.
Typically when you present to see an osteopath at our Kensington osteopathy clinic we will take a detailed case history, undertake an assessment to determine if a referral or imaging is required (in the case of suspected ligament damage or fracture i.e. internal knee structure issue such as an ACL, PCL, MCL or LCL strain or injury to the medial meniscus/ lateral meniscus). For those many individuals who do not require imaging or referral, we will often then provide treatment and map out a management plan.
Common conditions resulting in knee pain
Ligament injuries/sprains and tears ( ACL, PCL, MCL OR LCL)
Meniscus injuries/strains and tears ( Medial meniscus or lateral meniscus)
Muscle strains and tears ( Hamstrings, Adductors and Quads)
Patellar Tendonitis / Tendinopathies
Patella tracking issues
Runners knee ( ITB syndrome)
Post operative knee conditions/ post reconstruction such as ACL, MCL, LCL and Meniscus surgery
