How to Get the Most Out of Your Remedial Massage Session
A few small things can make a real difference to how useful your session is — most of them come down to communication.
Before you book
Have a rough idea of what you want out of the session — general tightness, something specific, or ongoing maintenance. It doesn't need to be precise, but it helps shape the appointment.
During the session
Say something if pressure is too much, if an area feels like it needs more attention than others, or if something you expected to be addressed hasn't come up yet. Your therapist can't read your mind — the conversation during the session matters as much as the hands-on work.
After the session
Some mild soreness for a day or two is normal, similar to post-training soreness. Staying hydrated and moving normally (rather than resting completely) tends to help more than doing nothing.
Building it into a routine
If you're using massage regularly rather than as a one-off, keeping rough notes on what's changed session to session helps your therapist track patterns over time.
