Remedial Massage or Osteopathy — Which Should You Book?

Remedial Massage or Osteopathy — Which Should You Book?

We offer both at Mixed Osteo, and it's a fair question. Here's a practical way to think about it.

The short version

If you're dealing with muscle tightness and want hands-on work to release it, remedial massage is usually the right starting point. If you have pain, a specific injury, or something you want assessed and diagnosed, osteopathy is generally the better fit.

What remedial massage covers

Remedial massage with Nick Mann is focused, hands-on soft tissue work, shaped around a conversation about what you want out of it. It suits general muscle tightness from training or work, recovery support during a training block, and ongoing maintenance if you train regularly.

What osteopathy covers

Osteopathy with Dr Luke Smith involves a full case history and physical assessment, a diagnosis, and a management plan. It suits pain you want properly assessed, a specific injury, or something recurring you haven't got to the bottom of.

Can you do both?

Yes, and plenty of clients do — osteopathy for assessment, diagnosis and a plan, remedial massage as ongoing soft tissue support alongside it. If you're not sure where to start, book whichever feels closest and raise it in the session.
